These resources draw together important information about methamphetamine. There's only a few resources, there are a lot more out there.
While trying to scare young people into not using meth or other drugs, (eg the Montana Meth Project), may seem like a great idea, it's not. This strategy is proven not to work so please don't head down that road. I also think we need to ask ourselves how damaging it is to stigmatise drug users, it stops them from seeking help and their own children can feel embarrassed when educating in this way. We're not saying that their parents' drug use is acceptable, particularly if their children are suffering the harm that's a whole different kaupapa to work on, but we don't need to further add to this.
We'd highly recommend keeping an eye out for webinars hosted by Wharaurau. https://wharaurau.org.nz/optforwellbeing.org
For example their webinar on "Unmasking methamphetamine use amongst rangatahi at increased risk of offending with Pete Thorburn, from Meth Education and Solution Services (MESS)".
NZ Drug Foundation - methamphetamine
Methamphetamine (meth, P, ice, Tina) is one of a number of amphetamine-type stimulants. It comes as a pill, powder, crystal or liquid which can be swallowed, snorted or injected, but is most commonly smoked in a glass pipe or bong.
Meth stimulates your central nervous system to release a large amount of dopamine, the ‘feel-good’ brain chemical. It can make you feel energetic, alert, talkative, and confident. It can increase your sex drive and reduce your appetite. It can also make you feel hyperactive, paranoid and aggressive.
